Governance and Member Voice

The u3a Board is made up of u3a members from across the movement who volunteer their time. They have been elected by the u3a membership to guide the governance and direction of the movement. The Board members have been exploring how to ensure the views of members are better represented in the governance of u3a.

Since the AGM in October 2022, many discussions have taken place to explore and develop the proposal for a pilot council. The document below, which you can download in pdf format, outlines both previous initiatives to make changes to the governance structure and the various initiatives undertaken since the AGM.

Four strategic aims of the Trust to support the u3a movement

To promote a u3a collective identity (Single u3a)

To maximise the benefits of u3a membership to current members and to attract the next generation (Next Gen)

To advance an exciting u3a learning experience (Enjoy)

To collaborate with like minded organisations at all levels of the movement (Emerge and Collaborate)

We hope that you will discuss these ideas within your u3a. If you have any questions you can email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
