Your Eyes

The heart sees what the mind may not perceive.

In love we often trust the heart knows best.

It points to things we've chosen to believe

And lets the mind take care of all the rest.

For my part, I will always trust your eyes

To recognize the truth in plainest sight,

And trust my own to gaze upon and prize

No-one but you my object of delight.

But should clouds come to settle on the mind

And memory give up its tenancy

When in the end all common sense is blind

And words begin to lose their currency.

If it should seem that love between us dies

Then let me see it always in your eyes.
