New Groups and Start-ups

To join one of these groups, you'll need to subscribe to Interest Groups Online (IGO). It only costs £12 per year and includes a subscription to the Third Age Matters, the u3a magazine. For more information, please visit the Interest Groups Online page.

New groups

  • A four week course on Artificial Intelligence repeated every month until June 2024.
  • At a monthly zoom meeting individual members will describe and show the progress they are making with their art project, discuss each others’ work, give feedback and make suggestions.
  • Canva is a very powerful free online graphic design package that allows you to create all kinds of media, from birthday cards to posters and brochures to presentations, videos, websites, and more.
  • This discussion group aims to open up a variety of topics relating to matters of justice in society. It will explore how the law affects us; how it has been shaped, ways it has been changed over time, and the reforms still in process.

Start-Ups

Start-up groups provide an opportunity for members to help set up a group which is not currently included in our active groups. When there enough members in the Start-up group, we organise a meeting so you can decide between you how the group will work and how it will be run.

    This might involve participants taking turns to highlight aspects of a particular distillery, method of production, taste even famous people known to love

    If you are interested in Chess, you may want to join this start-up group
  • Gardening

    This group was proposed in a recent survey
  • Learn Sign Language

    The aim of this group is to find ways of learning some British Sign Language. It would be great to have an experienced tutor (any offers) but we may be able to find resources on the internet to help us.
  • Map Reading

    This group is intended to help people to develop their map-reading skills. a member with the relevant skills is needed to provide instruction
  • Russian Conversation

    A monthly meeting for Russian conversation and discussion of selected articles.
  • Tennis News

    The players, the courts and equipment, the grand slams, the Davies and the Billie Jean King Cups and other tournaments of note around the world
  • The Environment

    Suggested list of topics could include : Food, production and distribution. Species and habitat loss. Physical changes in the environment, warming, weather, floods, currents, ice-melt...
  • The Novels of Nevil Shute

    Participants to take it in turn to suggest a book by Nevil Shute for the group to read then discuss at the next meeting…
  • Virtual Walks for Nature Appreciation

    For poeple who enjoy strolling about in nature, just enjoying the landscape and observing the birds, wildlife and plants of the season but maybe can't always get there
