Justice, Law and Society
This discussion group aims to open up a variety of topics relating to matters of justice in society. It will explore how the law affects us; how it has been shaped, the ways it has been changed over time, and the reforms still in process.
Topics for the sessions will include; Legal Aid, Human Rights, Acts of Parliament, prisons and rehabilitation, trial by media, forensic science, miscarriage of justice, self-defence law, Joint Enterprise, Restorative Justice, Animal Rights, Social Media justice campaigns and more.
The group is for anyone who has an interest in contemporary issues of justice and no prior knowledge of the law is necessary. Topics will usually be introduced using a short video clip, no longer than 10 minutes, before group discussion begins, some of which may take place in breakout rooms.
